As presented at the June 21st meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council, Parks and Recreation outlined its plans to do improvements to West View Mini-Park to the tune of $75,000, with help from a grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.  Council approved budgets for the upcoming year for the Water & Sewer Department, Stormwater Utility Management Fund, Murfreesboro City Schools, and Evergreen Cemetery, as well as the Tax Rate Ordinance and Appropriations Ordinance.  The city attorney made a few revisions to the employee handbook, including making it easier for employees to take more unpaid vacation leave, and Police Chief Glenn Chrisman lobbied to replace the forces outdated two way radio system, in place since the 1970s.  Finally, a public hearing will be held to discuss annexing and rezoning 47 acres along South Rutherford Boulevard for a planned business.  That hearing is scheduled for August 2nd.
