The drought conditions sparked a fire in the Blackman area, charring 25-acres and a barn on the John L. Batey farm. The blaze broke out Thursday on the farm at the corner of Baker Road and John Locke Lane. Crews from seven different agencies responded to the three alarm fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital, overcome by the heat. Investigators continue to look into the cause of the fire.
