While the rain was a welcome relief, Thursday storms left a mark on parts of Rutherford County. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service. The Smyrna and Rockvale areas seemed hardest hit with hail, up to quarter size coating yards. Also, some downed trees were reported in those areas and some power outages. After a high of 104-degrees, the rain cooled temperatures to the 80's. Another hot day is expected Friday, with temperatures over 100 again and more scattered thunderstorms possible.
