70 MPH Winds Hit Regency Park Area!

Storms rumbled through Murfreesboro around dinner time Monday (7/16/2012). It is estimated that wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour downed trees, had lightning strikes and brought some street closures in the Regenwood and Regency Park areas, off Haynes Drive and near Siegel High School. 

Lightning Ignites Regency Park Drive Home

Around 7:00 o'clock Monday evening (7/16/2012), Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department responded to a fire call at 3027 Regency Park Drive.  

Five units were dispatched to the home. When firefighters arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke showing in the roof area. An apparent lightning strike ignited a fire in the attic. Firefighters were able to contain damage to the attic and bedrooms which were all located on one side of the home.

No one was injured during this incident.

Missing Boy Returned Home Safe

As the storm pelted the city, a 12-year old boy is missing from the Bradyville Road area. Murfreesboro Police were searching the area and a little after 9:30 the youth returned home safe!

Rutherford County Escaped Damage

Evidently the damage was focused on a small section of Murfreesboro. Lisa Marchesoni with the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office told WGNS News that there were no storm related problems in the county.
