A Lascassas man accused of raping a preschool girl on several occasions was indicted on four counts of rape of a child last week, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office detective said Wednesday.
Defendant Mark Tracy Looney, 48, of Valley View Road , was charged also with four counts of aggravated sexual battery, said Detective Lisa McCallum of the Family Crimes Unit.
McCallum launched the investigation in April.
Looney was accused of raping the girl, then telling her not to tell anyone or he would go to jail, the detective said. Her behavior showed she feared Looney.
“She waited several months before she disclosed the sexual contact,” McCallum said. “She told her parents that she did not want to see Tracy anymore.”
Looney is being held on $200,000 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center . A hearing is set Aug. 10 in Circuit Court.
McCallum said there may be other victims who have not disclosed any abuse. People who have information may call McCallum at 904-3056.
