Man Charged with 5th DUI in Murfreesboro

A 42-year old self employed painter has been arrested and charged for the fifth time with DUI in Murfreesboro. Gregory Alan Russell from Lascassas was arrested after being pulled over on Virginia Avenue at Middle Tennessee Boulevard for a registration violation. Police say when they approached Russell they could smell an odor if an intoxicant. Police say the suspect failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on site and charged for the fifth time with DUI.

In Tennessee, the fourth DUI and any DUI after the fourth is considered a class E felony.  A class E felony requires the convicted offender to serve a minimum of 150-consecutive days in jail. There is also a mandatory fine of $3,000 to $15,000. The culprits vehicle can also be seized and the offenders drivers license can be revoked for 5-years.
