The Murfreesboro City Council had a chance to review the city's Fiscal Year 2012-2016 Capital Improvement Plan prior to their July 26th meeting, which outlines potentially upcoming public works projects. Those documents can be reviewed at MurfreesboroTN.gov. The Senior Center Commission approved a contract with Mark Nicholas to provide Physical Fitness Classes at the Senior Center, and in a great act of generosity, the Chief of Police donated roughly 90 bicycles to the Riverdale Baptist Church. The Service Excellence Coordinator recommended revisions to section 1038 of the employee handbook, which would give certain employees recognition and incentives for their exemplary work, and two public hearings were held; the first to rezone 21.94 acres along South Church Street, and the second for 0.6 acres east of Memorial Boulevard. Finally, three more public hearings were scheduled, for zoning applications along Memorial Boulevard and Compton Road. Those hearings were scheduled for September 20th, and are expected by Planning Commission to generate a great deal of discussion.
