The Murfreesboro Police Department announced today the promotion of Police Officer Sam Smith to Sergeant in the Patrol Section of the Uniformed Division. Smith began his career with MPD in 2005 and has worked in the Crime Suppression Unit. He earned a Bachelor of Science in 2003 from Middle Tennessee State University. Smith has received numerous commendations throughout his career including one for locating a missing child.

The Murfreesboro Police Department also announced the promotion of Police Public Information Officer Kyle Evans to Public Information Sergeant in the Administrative Services Division.  Evans began his career with MPD in 2002 and has worked in the Motorcycle Unit, DARE/Crime Prevention, Grants, Accreditation and currently serves as the Department’s PIO.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in 2001 and a Master of Criminal Justice degree in 2008, both from Middle Tennessee State University.  Evans has received numerous commendations throughout his career and has attended many hours of training.
