STRONG Early Voter Turnout in Elections

Rutherford County Election Administrator Nicole Lester reports that early voting was very strong in this election, nearly double that of the same election 4 years ago.

The voter turnout in Rutherford County was 15.96 per cent. The total number of ACTIVE VOTERS registered here are 131,252. 17,523 are classisified INACTIVE, since they have not voted in the past two November elections. The TOTAL NUMBER of registered voters in Rutherford County is now 148,775, according to data just released by the Election Commission.

50-50 split "Early Vote" vs "Election Day"

It was approximately a 50-50 even split between those who took advantage of early voting as compared to the persons who voted on August 2nd. The total public count was 20,945.

She also adds that the county's continued growth has posed some unique problems for keeping voter registration information accurate.
