The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro has received a temporary certificate of occupancy from  Rutherford County. Mosque leaders hope to be in the new facility by Friday for a prayer service.

For the past two years, there has been strong opposition to the mosque. Before the federal government got involved in the opening of the mosque, Chancellor Robert Corlew ruled that Rutherford County failed to give proper public notice of the Islamic Center’s construction plans.

The mosque is on  Veals Road at Bradyville Pike.
