It was for certain the first baby shower ever held in Murfreesboro Rotary Club's 93-year history, and perhaps the first in the district, nation or world of Rotary Club. Rotarian Melissa Cassidy was the center of attention as the 100-plus members played baby trivia, identified baby pictures of members and had and had baby shower cake.

The "Unknown" Kept The Crowd On Edge

To add even more excitement to the event, Melissa noted that she had just visited her doctor and the verdict was that the baby could come at any time. Despite all of the excitement, the newborn chose not to make an entrance during the noon luncheon on Tuesday (8/7/12) at the Stones River Country Club.

Gourmet Rotary Panel "Bats Zero"

Another fun game was to have a panel of Rotarians identify the flavors of popular baby food that is sold in tubes. Sadly, member pallets had not been properly trained to detect apple peach oatmeal, apple plum kamut, or pear appricot barley. The Rotary gourmet panel batted zero in identifying the squeeze tube delicacies. (L-R photo below ID) Beth Smith, Ken Pietrzyk, Bubba Woodfin, and Phil Holt.

Murfreesboro Rotary President Kent Syler said, "I promised different meetings that were fun". At that point, he got a round of applause.
