Office of Emergency Management divers Tuesday afternoon recovered the body of 20-year-old apparent drowning victim Travoris Nawls from Percy Priest Lake near Long Hunter State Park.

Nawls, of Antioch, and several friends went to the park to jump off cliffs that overlook the lake. Witnesses reported that Nawls successfully jumped off a low cliff before getting out of the water and heading to a much higher one. A witness said Nawls jumped off that cliff, surfaced briefly and then went back under water. Immediate efforts by a friend, who jumped into the lake, and two boaters to locate Nawls were unsuccessful. The Emergency Communications Center received the drowning call at 11:46 a.m.
