Local nonprofit Special Kids of Murfreesboro, TN announces the 2nd Annual Special Kids Race will be held on March 23, 2013. The race will once again be presented by Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & Surgicenter (MMC) and held at the MMC building on Garrison Drive in the Gateway section of Murfreesboro.
“The Special Kids Race is a great event to start off the year,” said Charlie Apigian, Race Director at Special Kids. “The 15K is fast and flat – a perfect precursor race to any area marathons like the Country Music Marathon in April. But more than anything, it’s for a great cause.”
Registration for the race will open Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 9:00 a.m., and space is limited to 2,500 participants. This year runners and walkers will again have the opportunity to choose between three distances – the 1 Mile Fun Run, 5K, and 15K – to welcome all types and levels of participants. Families are encouraged to join their children in the 1 Mile Fun Run.
MMC’s partnership is making it possible for Special Kids to reach more children and families in need in the community. For a second year, the clinic will supply the location, employee volunteers, and marketing for the race.
This year’s platinum sponsor is Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC). For additional information about race sponsorships starting at $500, contact Regina Wilkerson at rwilkerson@specialkidstn.com or 615.893.4892.
