Literally dozens of citizens showed up at the August 23rd meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council to speak, many pilots or aviation experts themselves, most on behalf of, but some against, a proposed runway extension at Murfreesboro Municipal Airport. Common complaints included increased air traffic and noise, but counterclaims touted increased safety measures and business growth for the community. In the end, fearing the possibility of a tie vote with only 6 of 7 councilmembers in attendance, the issue was delayed until the next meeting at which all members are present.
