The Fatal Accident Crash Team for the Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a deadly accident that occurred on NW Broad Street at Florence Road on Thursday. According to a report filed by officers on the scene of the wreck, a 1994 Nissan pickup driven by Benny S. Towns was attempting to turn left onto NW Broad Street from Florence Road when a GMC Yukon operated by Fredrick L. Smith ran into the truck.

72-Year old Towns was injured in the collision and complained to paramedics about pain in his left shoulder. On Sunday, Mr. Towns condition began to deteriorate and he died at the hospital. The police report states, “Towns’ death is believed to be a direct result of injuries sustained in the traffic crash.” The crash is still being investigated.
