Child Advocacy Center Holds Fundraiser Saturday

Golfers may compete in the annual “Turkey Tee Off” ” to benefit the Child Advocacy Centers in Rutherford and Cannon Counties on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. at Cedar Crest Golf Course.

Phillip and Steven Smith and Smith’s Painting are hosting the 2nd Annual “Turkey Tee Off.” They need your help to make the golf tournament a huge success.

Levels of event sponsorship range from $50 to $2,500.  For $50 your business can have a tee box sign.  For $75, an individual can golf. For $300, you can be a team captain for a team of four golfers. For $500 - $2,500, your business can be one of the presenting sponsors for the golf tournament.

 “The ‘Turkey Tee Off’ is a wonderful way for our community to come together and show their support of child abuse victims,” said Phillip Smith. “Our hope is that through this event, more families will learn about the services available and seek help for their children at the Child Advocacy Center.”

Child abuse affects a significant number of children in our community.  In the last 12 years, the Child Protective Investigative Team, which consists of the Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office, have worked together to investigate and prosecute over 8,000 child abuse, child sexual abuse, and drug endangered children cases in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

Executive Director Sharon De Boer, said, “During this Thanksgiving season, the Child Advocacy Center is very thankful for Phillip and Steven Smith, Smith's Painting, Bridgestone, Farrer Construction, and all the local businesses and individuals that are partnering with the Center to sponsor the "Turkey Tee Off" and help child abuse victims in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.”

Businesses and organizations have been very supportive of the “Turkey Tee Off.” Bridgestone LaVergne Plant, Farrer Construction, and Smith Painting are the presenting sponsors for the golf tournament.  Other event sponsors include Cedar Crest Golf Course, Cha Consulting Services, Charles R.
