Downtown Murfreesboro Needs Your Tree for Christmas

As heard last week on WGNS… Main Street of Murfreesboro needs your help in finding a Christmas tree to place in front of the Rutherford County courthouse. If you have the perfect tree, call Main Street at 895-1887. The Murfreesboro Electric Department will cut the tree down for you.

Main Street is looking for an 18-20 foot tall evergreen-preferably a fir or blue or Norwegian spruce from Rutherford County.  On December 7th, Rutherford County Courthouse comes aglow as the community comes together for our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Celebration.  There will be singing, caroling, delicious treats and, of course, a visit by Santa Claus.  The Public Square turns festive on this night when our merchants stay open late, restaurants offer holiday specials, and entertainment captivates the historic downtown.

“We need your help!” states Kathleen Herzog, Main Street Director.  “If you are willing to donate a tree to our historic downtown, please give Main Street a call.  In addition to acknowledging your kind gift during the tree lighting, Santa promises to make all your wishes come true!”  The tree will be on display throughout the holiday season beginning the night of the tree lighting.

For details on donating a tree or additional information about Main Street please call the office at  615-895-1887 or e-mail kbherzog@bellsoth.net.
