Charlie Daniels Passes Away after Stroke

Country music legend Charlie Daniels has passed away after suffering a stroke. He was 83-years old. CBS News Correspondent Jim Krasula has more:

Daniels, who lived in nearby Wilson County, died Monday (July 6) at Summit Medical Center.

He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Daniels, an outspoken patriot, has also raised money and awareness on veterans issues. The Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at Middle Tennessee State University provides transition services for Veterans and their families as they return to civilian life after military service.

Charlie Daniels in the 90's put his name behind a rodeo, held at MTSU's Tennessee Livestock Center. Proceeds went to the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club for their efforts to end child abuse. Below is a photo with Daniels and WGNS' Leeann Walker.
