The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office recently honored Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy. Sgt. Cassidy served the county for 22 years. He was part of the Sheriff's Services Unit.

Cassidy will soon be starting a new career in life as a criminal justice teacher at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro.

Part of Sgt. Cassidy’s going away celebration included a handmade wooden flag with a blue line thru it to represent law enforcement. The flag was presented by Capt. Angela Istvanditsch and Sgt. Chris Erwin, who succeeds Cassidy in the Community Services Unit.

The Senior Citizens Awareness Network (SCAN) volunteers also presented Sgt. Cassidy with a plaque of appreciation.
