We are sad to report the passing of Dennis Weaver, a fellow sports broadcaster in nearby Coffee County with deep Rutherford County ties.

He was 58-years old and passed away Friday (July 24) after complications from a routine surgery.

"Weave" as he was called was the voice of Coffee County sports for WMSR Radio. The Friday Night Thunder Scoreboard Show, which was on the air for several years on stations across Middle Tennessee, was his brain child.

WGNS Station Manager Bryan Barrett said, "I can recall having conversations with Dennis about how to take his vision to multiple stations and we were proud to be the first station to sign on to carry the regional show. He shared the same passion to highlight the accomplishments of young people. Weave will be greatly missed."

Weaver was also a long time assistant softball coach with Jeff Breeden, who is now the head coach at MTSU. The duo coached together at Riverdale, coaching the Lady Warriors to the 2009 state title.
