The Mindful Care staff are determined to rebuild their on-site client base as well as offer virtual activities to those who choose to stay home. Offering an online program will allow the organization to double, even triple the number of
participants because space won’t be an issue.

Mindful Care operates out of New Vision Baptist Church in two rooms that can accommodate 10 people.

The program is so popular that it reaches its in-person capacity more often than not. While the doors were closed, the staff offered activities and exercises that participants could do at home. It was received so well
that they decided to offer both in-person and virtual programs.

The 12-year-old nonprofit serves people, age 55 and up, who have early to mid- stage Alzheimer’s, a service which provides a much-needed break for exhausted caregivers.

Board President Tom Tozer said, “Openings are available in the program. If a family is struggling at home with 24/7 caregiving, Mindful Care will provide relief. And now people have the option to enjoy in-person fellowship or stay home and take part in virtual activities. Or do both.”

Not only has the program doubled its delivery options, but Mindful Care recently hired a music therapist who will lead participants in vocal and instrumental activities. Research suggests that music is a key to unlocking one’s memory and restoring calm.
