New unemployment claims decreased again this past week in Tennessee since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Looking back, the week ending on April 4th had the largest number of new unemployment claims which came in at over 116,000.
Rutherford County currently has 3.4% of their population unemployed (11,312 people out of 332,285) due to the Pandemic.
Meanwhile in Davidson County, they still have over 5% of their population listed as unemployed (38,347 residents out of 694,144).
To date, over 781-thousand unemployment claims were filed in Tennessee between March 15th and August 1, 2020. Out of that number, only 34% (267,711) of the claims were approved and paid as bonified unemployment cases in the Volunteer State.
