Nearly a dozen employees of Schneider Electric in La Vergne visited the greenway at Brookside Park on a mission of good will. On December 11, they donated and planted 40 trees, including Tulip Poplars and Shumard Oaks.

Parks & Recreation Director Jeff Marler was very appreciative of their generosity, “The city of La Vergne is grateful for the sense of community demonstrated by local businesses. Today Schneider Electric brought 11 employees out and we were able to plant 40 trees in less than two hours."

“The trees enhance the park, increase property values, and help establish a riparian buffer zone along the creek bed. This zone will help prevent erosion along the banks of Hurricane Creek,” he added.

Future projects earmarked for Brookside include a mass planting of trees and shrubs on February 9, 2013 by Schneider Electric. Anyone wishing to participate in this project may contact Marler at 793-3224.
