(CHRISTIANA, TN)  There was a fatal two-vehicle crash around 8:30 Thursday morning (9/3/2020) on highway 231-South at C & E Market, 5855 Shelbyville Pike.

Tennessee Highway Patrol's Lt. Charlie Caplinger told WGNS, "The driver of a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck was leaving the C & E Market, and pulling into the northbound lane (toward Murfreesboro). That's when the pickup, pulling a cargo trailer, was slammed by a 2020 Western Star dump truck."

60-year old Lewis Green of Smyrna was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the pickup. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The dump truck's driver was 51-year old Mike Zachary of Christiana. He was wearing a safety belt, and the trooper reports that Zachary did not suffer any injuries.

The crash report shows that the medical examiner was notified, and that the use of safety restraints would more than likely made a difference.

The trooper notes that no additional reports on this fatal crash will be made, and that no charges or citations will be issued.

Again, 60-year old Lewis Green of Smyrna died in a two truck crash Thursday morning on Shelbyville Pike (highway 231-South) and the intersection of State Highway 269.
