Scams on Nashville.Craigslist.com seem to be on the rise in Rutherford County. For the second time in as little as ten days, another person has reported being the target of fraud. This time the Murfreesboro victim accepted a check he received by way of FedEx for $3,500. The check was supposedly a payment to him for services he agreed to provide the company.

The complainant called the company that was named on the check and was quickly advised that the check was a fake. The company advised the man to call the police. Police went to the victims home and took the check and envelope it arrived in for evidence. No arrests have been made.

One week ago a Hermitage man met a woman in the parking lot of a Murfreesboro store to buy her sister’s laptop. The Mac-Book laptop was advertised on Craigslist. The victim in that case was told that the computer was with her sister in Pennsylvania and would be shipped to him within the week. The man paid the culprit $1,000 cash but never received the computer. It was later revealed that the tracking number he received from the subject was fictitious and the computer was never shipped.
