The U.S. Census count started in April and continues. If the count shows an increase in population, it will equal more funding for Rutherford County.

June Iljana with the Census Bureau said Census workers are making the rounds as the Sept. 30 deadline approaches to participate in the 2020 count.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland says that he has a guess as to what the new population count could be...

After the count is complete at the end of September, Rutherford County should receive offical documentation of the population count by April of next year (2021).

Residents wanting to complete the census questionnaire online but can’t locate their census ID can go www.my2020census.gov and follow instructions. Households can also respond by phone or by mail if they receive a paper questionnaire.
