(MURFREESBORO) From the sounds of laughter, live music and colorful lights--it looks as if Christmas season has begun in Murfreesboro's historic business district. Friday night (11/6/2020) brought the Holiday Marketplace to the town square
Temperatures around 70 let you comfortably stroll from shop to shop, enjoy outdoor dining at many of the 'Boro's outdoor eateries, listen to "live" music as it reverberated from one century old building to another. Pardon the comparison, but you actually felt as if a classic Norman Rockwell Christmas picture had come to life and you were walking through that perfect environment.
The Murfreesboro Art Crawl featured creative works at several downtown businesses. Patrons had the opportunity to take advantage of one-of-a-kind gifts for the upcoming season, while talking to friends they have not seen since the beginning of this pandemic. And speaking of that--the majority of the strollers were wearing masks and definitely social distancing.
The shop keepers in the locally owned establishments were all abuzz about the large turnout. Plus with the city growing so quickly--many of those who were enjoying the the magic of the Murfreesboro square for the first time.
Adding to that unique moment was the beauty of the renovated pre-Civil War courthouse, one of the few in the state. The addition of special lighting, including colorful LED floods, created an even more picturesque mood for the downtown area.
Congratulations to Main Street Murfreesboro and the Downtown Business Association for the old-fashioned Yule mood created with last Friday night's Holiday Marketplace. It got the Christmas feeling started for many!
