(MURFREESBORO) Emergency responders are crediting several civilians for saving the life of a motorcyclist trapped underneath an SUV following a crash on Mall Circle Drive around 5:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon (11/7/2020).
The civilians sprang into action, using car jacks from their vehicles, lifting the weight of the Nissan Rogue off the injured motorcyclist. An employee from Home Depot, which was near the accident, used a floor jack and concrete blocks from the business to help stabilize the SUV.
Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department Captain Clay Estes said, “The actions taken by citizens before we arrived definitely improved the outcome for the injured motorcyclist.”
Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue was on the scene within minutes of the call. Fire crews finished stabilizing the SUV using hydraulic equipment and wooden blocks. They removed the motorcyclist from underneath.
Members of Fire and Rescue along with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services treated the motorcyclist and three occupants of the SUV on the scene. The four patients were taken by ambulance to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for further treatment. Their conditions are unknown.
The crash remains under investigation by the Murfreesboro Police Department.
