Center for the Arts "Thinking Out of the Box"

Nov 11, 2020 at 12:17 pm by WGNS

(MURFREESBORO) The Murfreesboro Center for the Arts is still unable to hold performances inside the theatre, but they do plan on outdoor holiday performances.

The group's next outdoor performance will bring Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer to life on the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza. Live shows on Friday and Saturday, December 11th and 12th. Click here for more information.

In addition, the Center for the Arts plans to offer Christmas Cheer a new way this year.  They will perform “It’s a Wonderful Life” Live Radio Show through an on-demand streaming service.  Tickets will be $20 per stream, and available in a few weeks. That way you can watch with your family and friends in the safety and convenience of your own home.

Executive Director Patience Long explained that there are not enough seats inside the theatre to permit social distancing and have enough persons in attendance to cover the costs of a production.

She noted, "The 2020 season is still on hold."

Long continued, "I’ve spoken with the directors at other community theaters across the country.  Some have been allowed to open because their rates of transmission and infection are low.  We hope to pick up the season by next summer—maybe sooner! We just don’t know and can’t predict with a 100 percent accuracy."

The theatre's executive director was very appreciative of those who support the local theatre.

She continued, "We know this won’t make up for missing the shows this season, but you will be able to use your tickets again when we pick up the season and look forward to bringing you the LIVE performance of ELF on our stage when we do."

NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed. In fact, Patience Long and other guests from the Center for the Arts will be on WGNS soon with updates about local, live theatre.
