A Murfreesboro firefighter is recovering after being injured while battling a house fire on North Highland Avenue Tuesday. 

Officials say the firefighter suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford hospital, but later released to recover at home. 

The home that caught fire was built in the 1930's, accourding to property records, but it is not known what caused the home to go up in flames. Personnel were able to extinguish the blaze fairly quickly and an investigation is now underway to determine what started the fire.
