The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office recently released information about their attempts to locate a missing La Vergne man whose family had not heard from him since he left Thanksgiving Day. Since the release of information, 32-year old Robert Brian Covert has been found. Covert was located and is safe, he was in Georgia.

Previously, the Sheriff's Office reported that he drove away in his girlfriend’s car on Thanksgiving Day and the vehicle was later found abandoned in Bridgeport, Ala., according to Detective Richard Brinkley.

Bridgeport Police received a call about the unoccupied car and a man walking toward the wood line. Police walked through the area and conducted a K9 truck but were unable to locate Covert.

Brinkley and Bridgeport Police searched a heavily wooded area Wednesday close to the area where the car was found but did not locate him. Bridgeport Police searched near the railroad tracks with no results.

On Thursday (12/10/2020), more information was sent to deputies and that was when Covert was found safe in Georgia.
