(MURFREESBORO)  The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross has issued a "Critical Need Alert" for blood donations.

The winter season is typically the most challenging time of year for collecting blood donations. As temperatures drop, schedules change, and the pandemic continues, many blood drives and appointments may unfortunately be delayed and even cancelled.

There are several times available at the Murfreesboro Red Cross, 501 Memorial Boulevard.

Your donation is critically needed to help the sick and injured get through the winter months.

It costs nothing but an hour of your time – and it’s a gift like no other. To thank you for your immediate help, if you come to give by Jan. 4, you’ll get this limited edition (and super cute!) long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.*

In addition, there is an upcoming Predator's blood drive at Gold's Gym, 1713 Old Fort Parkway. This will be Thursday, December 31, 2020, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

On Monday, January 4, 2021, a Red Cross blood drive will be at the World Outreach Church, 1921 New Salem Highway, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM.

The Red Cross reminds you that all donations are tested for COVID-19 antibodies. Results available within one to two weeks via your donor account on both RedCrossBlood.org and the Blood Donor App.

The Red Cross follows the highest standards of safety and infection control. In accordance with CDC guidelines, all donors are required to wear a face covering or mask. Valve face masks are not permitted. Face shields can be worn in addition to face masks but not as a substitute.
