(MURFREESBORO) The 19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge happened quickly at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning in the 'Boro Beach (outdoor pool at SportsCom). It only took 7-minutes for approximately 100 brave folk to the jump into 45-degree water on a chilly 37-degree morning.
SportsCom's Director Bart Fite told WGNS . . .
Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams said, "There was no before or after gatherings in the gym. Due to COVID-19, CDC guidelines prohibited indoor gatherings of more than 10 persons."
Williams continued . . .
The event began with everyone facing Old Glory and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in unison. Then the countdown to jump began with excited audience members participating.
For everyone's safety, paramedics from Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue were at the jump.
Again, the 19th annual Polar Bear Plunge at SportsCom goes into the history books--the first associated with a pandemic, and on a 37-degree, cloudy morning, the approximate 100 jumpers were in, out and heading to their cars within 7-minutes.
Fun was had by all participants, and the food drive for Greenhouse Ministries was successful.
THANK YOU Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department for another fun event for this community!
