(MURFREESBORO)  Around 10:30 Friday (1/15/2021) night, Rutherford County Fire Rescue was called to a structure fire on Valley Bend Road. That is in a Blackman subdivision that's between the Batey Farm and I-840. 

Rutherford County's Lieutenant/Assistant Fire Marshal Joshua Sanders said, “Crews made a defensive attack and extinguished the blaze. Four of the six residents were home when the fire broke out.” 

Reports show that they received minor injuries including hair-singeing and smoke inhalation.

The American Red Cross assisted the family of six.  Others who responded included the Almaville Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services.

According to Sanders, the fire is under investigation at this time, but appears to be accidental.
