At 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning (1/5/2013) around 400 braved the 38-degree temps and were a part of the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department's 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at SportsCom.

SportsCom's Director Bart Fite told WGNS News . . .

Above L-R: Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg; and Murfreesboro City Councilman Doug Young. Doug took the plunge.

Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg wecomed the plungers to the outside water park at SportsCom . . .

In addition, City Councilman Doug Young was on hand. He jumped, and we asked him if he had been in all ten of these annual events . . .

L-R photo: Just before the plunge, SportsCom life guards poured ice into the outdoor pool. Obviously, from the expressions on these two (above) Polar Bear plungers, it worked!

Each year the participants bring non-perishable food items for the Murfreesboro City School's Food Bank.
