More manhole covers have been stolen in Rutherford County. This time, the Murfreesboro Water Department says that a manhole cover was stolen from the parking lot of the Knights Inn on South Church St. The cover was valued at over $200 and will likely be sold as scrap metal, possibly in another city. Several other manhole covers were stolen last month in Murfreesboro as well.

Two years ago Detective Tramel with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office recovered over 30 manhole and water meter covers that were sold to a local scrap yard on Mount Herman Road.
