Main Street Murfreesboro's Executive Director Sarah Callender told NewsRadio WGNS, “Main Street is excited to host a smaller version of the annual JazzFest event this year, focusing on our student jazz bands who haven’t been able to perform in over a year.  We are thrilled to have over eight student bands and three professional, local bands performing from noon through the evening.  It will be a fun event for families to come downtown and take part in, with food trucks, an interactive Kids’ Alley featuring hands on musical activities sponsored by Ridenour Music, and downtown shops open for you to shop."

Callender noted, "I am excited about the pre-show music workshops for both preschool and elementary aged children and also high school and adults this year.  There is an educational component as well as an entertainment offered at this year’s JazzFest.  We are thankful for our presenting sponsors First Bank and T-Mobile along with many other sponsors who helped cover the expenses of JazzFest, allowing Main Street the ability to offer this fun music filled day free to our community.  Make plans to bring your friends and family to this all day event, Saturday, May 1, 2021.”

She concluded, “Based on CDC guidelines Main Street is asking the public while at JazzFest to distance themselves six feet from others who don’t live in your household.  Please bring your own chairs and sit in groups with those who you came with, allowing space from others sitting near you.  We recommend a mask when walking around crowds, getting food, and standing in line for the restroom.”
