Murfreesboro Police Chief Chrisman to Receive Pinnacle Award

Leadership Rutherford has named Murfreesboro Chief of Police Glenn Chrisman as the 2012 recipient of the Pinnacle Award, given to someone who has demonstrated significant leadership throughout his or her career.

“Chief Chrisman is a man of honor and integrity, and a very worthy award recipient,” said Leadership Rutherford Director Stephanie Brackman. “Always a professional, he has committed his career to making Murfreesboro safe for our residents, businesses and visitors, and makes the people around him better.” 

Chrisman is a Rutherford County native and attended the public school systems of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. He graduated from the last class of Murfreesboro Central High School in 1972.

He was employed as a police officer by the Murfreesboro Police Department in December of 1976. He advanced through the ranks from police officer to sergeant, lieutenant, Captain, deputy chief, and was appointed Chief of Police, on Sept. 1, 2003.

He received his associate and bachelor’s degrees from MTSU in 1992, and his master’s degree in criminal justice administration in 2001. He is a 1992 graduate of the 170th session of the FBI National Academy, and a 1996 graduate of Leadership Rutherford.

Chrisman is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, serving as president in 2012-13, and serves as fourth district director for the Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers Association. He is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, the Leadership Rutherford Alumni Association, and Phi Kappa Phi, a national collegiate academic honor society. Earlier this year, he was appointed by Governor Haslam to a two-year term on the Tennessee POST Commission.

Locally, he serves as chairman of the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District Board of Directors, and as the chairman of the Board of Directors for the Rutherford County Child Advocacy Center.  He and wife Lucy of 37 years, have one daughter, Jackie. He and his family are members of Fosterville Baptist Church.

Chrisman will be honored at the Chamber’s annual Business at its Best event on Friday, Feb. 1, at the Embassy Suites Murfreesboro Hotel and Conference Center.
