(MURFREESBORO) The Rutherford County Delegation, made up of our state senators and representatives, has strongly gone on record to oppose a request made by Republic Services to expand the Middlepoint Landfill.

On State Senator Dawn White’s FaceBook page, she noted, “I have heard from many Rutherford County residents who are opposed to the proposed landfill expansion. I agree that an expansion of the landfill would not be in the best interest of our community. I have been working with the other members of the Rutherford County legislative delegation to voice our disapproval of this application to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Several of us met with representatives from the department to relay our concerns and to personally deliver the attached letter (see below). We will also continue to explore other potential avenues to help protect our community from the proposed expansion.”
