THIS FRIDAY: The American Heart Association has announced the annual Middle Tennessee Go Red for Women Luncheon "Digital Experience."

The American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization focused on heart and brain health for all, invites everyone to join the experience that will offer educational opportunities, a physician-led discussion about heart health and pregnancy, a young woman’s story of survival through heart disease, and share what is being done to improve the lives of people living in our community.

The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of one in three women. The American Heart Association believes losing even one woman is too many. This year’s digital experience will be an opportunity to come together and take action against heart disease in women while empowering guests to take charge of their physical, mental and maternal health. Guests will learn about the efforts of the American Heart Association during the last year as the work of the organization moves forward to ensure longer, healthier lives for everyone in our communities.

“The work being done in Nashville is having an incredible impact on our community to reach those in need of additional support or simple awareness about the impacts of heart disease and stroke,” said Melina Walega, chair of Middle Tennessee’s Go Red for Women® movement. “We’re excited to invite everyone to join us for this year’s luncheon to learn more about how they can play a role in making real change in their health and the health of our community. We’re hopeful that our message of lifesaving work can reach more people than ever before.”

Everyone is welcome to join the 2021 Middle Tennessee Go Red for Women Luncheon Digital Experience on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Ascension Saint Thomas Health is the local platform sponsor of the Go Red for Women® movement and WSMV’s Tracy Kornet will serve as the emcee. Go Red for Women® has had a profound impact on women’s health and will continue remove the barriers women face to achieving good health and well-being and continue to be a champion for women and women’s health.
