(MURFREESBORO) Crews got started early Sunday (5/23/2021) morning and by the time folks were coming home from church, the structure at the corner of Northwest Broad and Thompson Lane was a pile of rubble. The site has a history of auto related businesses, and will continue in that venue.
What's Next?
Murfreesboro Buildings and Codes Plans Examiner Brian Hardison told NewsRadio WGNS that Thorntons will be adding their third location for this community. They already have gas stations at 972 Old Fort Parkway and 2908 Medical Center Parkway.
EuroFix was the most recent occupant at 1950 NW Broad Street, but that firm moved to the Old Fort Parkway some while ago and the former structure was empty.
Perhaps the first occupant of that structure was Jerry Lewis Toyota in the 1980s. He moved Jerry Lewis Auto Sales toward town on Broad Street, and later retired. The business was sold, but continues to operate under the same name.
Expansion At Jackson Heights?
NewsRadio WGNS has been getting inquirries from listeners about what appears to be an expansion at Jackson Heights Shopping Center, considered to be Mufreesboro's first shopping strip (1962).
There has been a fenced area in the front parking lot of Jackson Heights and now building materials are secured there. Listeners have asked if a new free-standing business was about to be developed there?
City Codes Hardiman said, "That's material for a renovation project at Jackson Heights".
