MTSU Names New Interim Dean for the for the College of Basic and Applied Sciences

MTSU will soon begin the process to hire a new dean for the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, which covers a large variety of studies...

That was Dr. Greg Van Patten who was recently appointed as the interim dean for the the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, which covers chemistry, aerospace, agriculture, biology, computer science, concrete and construction management, engineering technology, geosciences, mathematical sciences, military science and physics and astronomy.

Prior to Van Patten being named the interim dean, his career was entirely focused on chemistry. He was chair of the Department of Chemistry for nine years at MTSU and previous to that, he spent thirteen years at Ohio State University as a Chemistry Professor.

The official search for that next dean will be a national search and will likely start around September of this year.

Dr. Van Patten noted that he is also submitting his resume to be included in the search.
