(MURFREESBORO) Around 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning (7/24/2021), Murfreesboro Fire Rescue station 1 responded to a home fire on Gateland Drive, near South Rutherford Boulevard. First on-the-scene reported heavy smoke showing.

Crews entered the home and found fire in the kitchen area and quickly extinguished the blaze.

There were no persons in the home, but the residents arrived while firefighters were there. They told the crews that their pet cat was still inside.  Firefighters located and rescued the cat from the home. The cat was unresponsive and firefighters quickly used "Pet Masks" and provided oxygen to the pet.

Due to the firefighters quick actions the cat is alive and was returned safely to it’s owner.
