The MTSU Department of Art and Design announces a juried exhibition of regional, national, and international artists that embraces the extensive breadth and depth of artistic diversity in the contemporary Latin American art community. Curated by Dr. Barbara and Mr. Leroy Hodges, the exhibit entitled Celebration – Creative Voices, Creative Visions is scheduled, July 30–August 14, 2021, in the Todd Art Gallery, Todd Hall, Room 224A. The exhibit opens at 2 p.m., July 30, and all are encouraged to join the afternoon's festivities. Celebration also serves as the main gallery opener for the upcoming fall 2021 semester. Artists participants include Dalia Garcia, Orlando Garcia-Camacho, Jairo Prado, Christian Rodriguez, Ruben Torres, and Liliana Velez.
Asked to describe their curative efforts, Hodges stated, "This exhibit creates an environment conducive to healthy dialogue, thus uniting us through cultural unity to gain a deeper insight, appreciation, and understanding of the enormous power that art and cultures hold."
Additionally, "We would like to thank MTSU, the Department of Art and Design, and its staff for their assistance with this display." Concluding, "The Todd Art Gallery continues to promote and foster community engagement and an environment of exchange where different voices and experiences are represented across experimental and traditional mediums. These project spaces showcase and support novel art and ideas that promote art accessibility, inclusion, and creative growth in a manner appropriate to community space in which it resides."
Todd Art Gallery is a free and open venue to the public with applicable campus Covid-19 precautions in place, with a recommendation for wearing masks by those unvaccinated.
