Summer is ending for families with school aged children and Main Street Murfreesboro is ready to celebrate with our community.

Friday, August 6, Main Street will host their third FREE Friday Night Live concert on the square. Scheduled for Friday, August 6, these First Friday Night Live concerts have become a monthly community party downtown. Bring your lawn chairs and join the fun from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. under the shadow of the Rutherford County Courthouse. The August 6th event features the Middle Tennessee band Higher Ground, playing music from the 60’s to today with styles ranging from modern, hip hop, dance, R&B and oldies. Food trucks and downtown restaurants will be open. Special thanks to all our participating sponsors including presenting sponsor for the Friday Night Live 2021 series Wilson Bank and Trust and August sponsor T-Mobile.

On Saturday, August 7th make sure to come back downtown for family fun starting at 8:00am with the Saturday Market, featuring over 62 vendors with produce, baked goods, crafts, and plants. Starting at 9:00am a “Back to School Bash” will be held on the corner lot of Main and Church Streets on the square. Wild Goose Chase scavenger hunt maps will be available with downtown prizes given to families who turn them in completed that morning. Read To Succeed will be passing out books to children and Shacklett’s Photography will set up “The story of the One Room Schoolhouse”, back in time: back to school, story boards and interactive games for kids to play. From 9:30-10:30 “Everybody Loves Drumming” will be set up on the corner lot providing free drumming participation led by Ross Lester’s world of Rhythm and Drums. Bringing all manner of drums and percussion instruments, this free interactive family friendly activity will get everyone on the square excited!

Shop Local Downtown all day Saturday with $10 off coupons at most of the small businesses downtown on August 7th thanks to sponsor T-Mobile for their “Shop Small Saturday” coupons. Stop by T-Mobile’s tent at the Saturday Market and get a coupon to be used on the first Saturday of each month at downtown small businesses and restaurants.


Main Street Murfreesboro works to maintain, enhance, and promote the historic downtown as the heart of our community. All Main Street events are free to the public and family friendly.
