(MURFREESBORO) Slow-down and obey the laws while driving through school zones. Throughout the county the Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force is cracking down on offenders.
Last week 286 citations were written including 108 seatbelt violations, 44 hands-free, 15 speeding, and 8 child restraint violations.
How much do these tickets set you back?
It depends on whether you receive the citations from city police or a state trooper.
Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers told WGNS, "The City of Murfreesboro court fines for these types of violations are among the lowest in the state, even in school zones. The most expensive ticket is around $160. The same citation from the Tennessee Highway Patrol would be almost double."
Drive carefully, especially in school zones--and watch out for the kids!
