(Murfreesboro, TN) - Commissioner Craig Harris announced his intention to run for reelection for Rutherford County Commission District 15. First elected in 2018, Harris ran on fighting for conservative values, fiscal responsibility, and addressing the opioid crisis that has harmed Rutherford County.

“It has been an honor to serve District 15 and Rutherford County over the last 3 years. We’ve made significant progress as a county,” Commissioner Harris said. “From passing resolutions protecting our conservative values to balancing our budget while obtaining raises for county employees, I’m proud of the work we’ve done as a county.”

In 2018, Commissioner Harris ran on finding ways to address the opioid crisis locally. When he was first elected, he created a task force of local healthcare and community leaders to find ways to address this problem. Since then, Rutherford County has implemented an awareness campaign highlighting the opioid epidemic. Also, Commissioner Harris worked with Director of Schools Bill Spurlock in launching a K-12 Opioid Awareness education in our school systems.

“The opioid epidemic is an issue that I care deeply about,” Commissioner Harris stated. “We’ve made significant progress addressing it on the county level and I’m looking forward to continuing working on this issue over the next four years.”

“While we have done great work as a county over the last three years, we still have much more to work on,” Commissioner Harris explained. “I’m running for reelection to continue fighting for our conservative values, promote fiscal responsibility that keeps our residents’ taxes low, and continue the fight against the opioid epidemic in our county.”

Commissioner Harris is the owner of Construction Concepts of Tennessee and also volunteers as the Defensive Coordinator for Middle Tennessee Christian School’s High School Football team. He is married to his wife Suzanne and has two children, Seth and Trey.
