(MURFREESBORO) The Rutherford County Archaeological Society will meet at 1:00 o'clock this Saturday afternoon (2/19/2022) at Oaklands Mansion, 900 N. Maney Avenue. Nick Fielder will focus on "Using the Past to Predict the Future." This talk is free and open to the public.
Fielder is a former state archaeologist will be tell about a proposed 174 acre residential development in Williamson County that may impact Native American archaeological sites.
By sharing photographs of several sites near the project area, Fielder feels that their analysis is accurate. They have come to this conclusion by using site file data from 77 sites that are within a 3-mile radius of each other.

The Rutherford County Archaeological Society(RCAS) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit educational service organization. Promoting public archaeology, we bring together folks from all walks of life and professional archaeologists. We serve to educate and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of archaeology, to demonstrate the importance of research, and to promote the stewardship, preservation, and protection of our cultural resources.
