Positive Valentines Day Story: A volunteer group called “Club YES” in Murfreesboro is helping out local homeless children in a special way.  The group was formed just before the Christmas of 2012 in hopes of helping homeless children within the city school system. YES stands for Youth Empowerment Services. There are currently over 1,000 homeless children attending school in the Murfreesboro “City” School System.

Shea Brock told WGNS that Club YES adopted some 60+ kids, helped provide them with a Christmas and are currently sponsoring homeless children in their schools ESP program. They have also been able to provide these children with clothing, free of charge. Brock said that all of this is made possible through personal donations and volunteers.

Most recently, Club YES held a Valentine’s Day card drive. The cards that were collected will allow homeless children to participate in their holiday class parties. Enough cards were collected to distribute at the Mitchell Neilson Schools ESP program.
