(La VERGNE, TN) Around lunchtime Thursday (4/7/2022) a 2008 GMC boxtruck was traveling toward Chattanooga (eastbound) when it broke down on I-24 near Waldron Road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) noted that the box truck’s driver got out to see why his vehicle stopped, at that point a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup slammed into the stalled truck. Then a 2022 Chevy Silverado struck the first truck. All three drivers were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Troopers told WGNS that debris from the F-250 flew over the area and damaged five other vehicles.
In addition to the THP, the Rutherford County Sheriffs Department, La Vergne Police and Fire, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and Metro Police assisted with traffic and investigation of the crash.
The interstate was cleared and reopened late Thursday night.
